Dawson Hart is a long established legal practice. They can trace their history back to 1841 when William Crowe started up the business in Uckfield. Throughout the 177 years of trading in Uckfield, their business has had strong links to the local community. Clients have commented that they see Dawson Hart active within the community through their fundraising and sponsorship and they appreciate seeing the “human side” of the business.
Four years ago, Dawson Hart decided to formalise their partnership with their chosen charities by naming one charity each year to fundraise for. This is in addition to the local sponsorship and involvement with local events. They like to choose a local charity wherever possible and each year the staff nominate and then vote for the charity they would like to support. This year, Dawson Hart is raising money for the Children’s Respite Trust, which is a charity that provides respite for disabled children and support for their families from East and West Sussex. They have recently moved their base to Uckfield. The Trust Provides respite for some of the most unwell children in our community.
Encouraging staff and business contacts to be involved in choosing our charity means that everyone feels connected to the cause.
Dawson Hart pride themselves on their Corporate Social Responsibility, their fundraising work not only raises vital funds for our Charity of the Year, but also brings the local community together. They also sponsor local schools, clubs and events to support the community.
Dawson Hart take great pride in their fundraising work where they host events to not only raise vital funds for their charity of the year, but also to bring the community together. From the Easter Egg Hunt to the Barn Dance; Dawson Hart make sure that there is something for everyone to enjoy and take part in. It shows the more human side of this law firm where they are helping to make a difference to others in the community. Dawson Hart were also nominated for the Give back to the Community Award at the Uckfield FM Community Awards in 2017 where they were recognised for their hard work.
They host a Christmas Drinks events to celebrate the end of another successful fundraising year and announce who will be the next year’s charity. Local businesses and clients come along and enjoy an evening of drinks, nibbles and entertainment, whilst sporting Christmas jumpers!
Dawson Hart contribute in a social aspect by bringing the community together with the events that they organise. The Easter Egg Hunt and the Barn dance are events open to the public and they are always well attended and enjoyed by everyone.
Local businesses have been fantastic in donating towards the charity events to help support as much as they can. This in turn has a benefit to Dawson Hart as it improves relationships with local businesses.
Dawson Hart arrange events at their own cost and donate all money raised to their chosen charity of the year. They support and work with local businesses too, who often help with donations.
Over the past 4 years, Dawson Hart has raised over £15,000 for their chosen charities. However, in addition to the financial contribution, there is the community and social benefit of the not-for-profit work that Dawson Hart have done. The staff at Dawson Hart are truly part of the community and we believe that this is mirrored by members of the community.
This year alone they have already hosted an Easter Egg Hunt, internal dress down days and are currently preparing for their annual barn dance which is in October. All of this time and effort is in addition to their day to day working day and as such Dawson Hart are very grateful for having such a remarkable team working for them.
