Every now and again I need to stop and remind myself that we are a Chamber of Commerce that is growing well and adding new members to our database every single month.
Indeed, the strap line on the front of our printed directory says… “supporting & growing Uckfield business” … and of course, we deliver on this in many ways. With 214 members, it isn’t always easy to please all the people all the time, which is why we now offer an increasing variety of events.
Hot on the heels of a successful Speed Networking event attended by more than 80 businesses, and our members’ meeting with similar numbers, June is set to be a busy month.
For the smaller, ‘one man band’ type businesses, we have introduced ‘Lunch & learn’ – 90 minutes of taster training on a specific business issue followed by a sandwich lunch allows business owners to grow their business in a cost-effective way. The next event is this week on Friday 7 June.
And although most of us work hard, all work and no play isn’t much fun, which is why we’ve teamed up with neighbouring chambers from Crowborough, Hailsham and Heathfield for a social BBQ after work on Wednesday 12 June at Crockstead Farm Hotel.
Finally, for this month, we have stayed with the growth theme as we will host a breakfast networking opportunity for members and non-members alike at Thyme for Food & Friends on Thursday 20 June, where Business Support Facilitator, Fred Thomas, will talk through grant funding opportunities, which could be just what a local Uckfield business needs to take them to the next stage of business growth.
More information and booking for any Chamber event can be found on this link.
Some people ask me about whether membership of the Chamber is ‘value for money’! Well, that sort of depends; like most things in life… the more you put in, the more you’ll get out… and you should, after all, reap what you sow!
Please do get in touch, if you own or manage an Uckfield business and aren’t yet a member! We’d love to hear from you…
