Valentine’s Day 2020 was the last notable date before the initial Lockdown and yet this year we are going to have to think a little laterally of how to best impress those that we love!
It got me thinking that despite Lockdown there is a lot to love about Uckfield and even with just a few days’ notice ahead of the big day on Sunday 14 February 2021, there remain plenty of opportunities to ‘Share the Love’ by buying local from many of our Independent businesses.
Of course, with Valentine’s Day falling at the weekend this year, and with everyone staying at home, our pubs and restaurants who deliver or offer a ‘take away’ service are sure to be in demand. So, don’t miss out and get your order in as soon as you can!
Firm favourites at the Chamber are two of the venues that we have used for our networking breakfasts or lunch / evening meetings during happier times! Although the cinema might be closed for that Valentine’s film, The Picture House Restaurant is well and truly open for both ‘take away’ and local delivery. Last weekend I enjoyed the District 9 pizza delivered to my door; won’t tell you here what the topping was but it was simply amazing! The Picture House have a special Valentine’s menu for this coming weekend which you can now order online. And another local venue that can deliver as well as offer ‘take away’ is the Highlands Inn and again, from personal experience, I can tell you that their two-course Sunday Lunch offers great value and is mouth-wateringly sumptuous!
If you’d rather cook your own Valentine’s meal then again we know from experience that Isfield Farm Shop offer the best local produce and again, can even deliver to your door during this lockdown period.
So, you’ve sorted the food and drink for Valentine’s but what about a gift? Chamber member, George Moss Jewellers have been open while they’re closed as they offer virtual appointments to view that special Valentine’s gift and they also have a ‘click & collect’ service.
And just a short walk down the High Street you’ll find Carvills, again offering a range of wonderful home based gifts; their home fragrance range would be a good idea for Valentine’s and there’s also a beautiful range of personal gifts for him & her. Again, ‘click & collect’ can work well although if you really can’t decide what to buy this Valentine’s Day for the love of your life then what about a Carvills gift voucher?
Whatever you do this Valentine’s Day, please support a local business. When you show the love to someone special this weekend, please show the love to Uckfield’s businesses too!
