Chamber member and regional law firm, Rix & Kay has announced a suite of new services to enhance the support it provides to its existing GatekeeperHR clients.

GatekeeperHR is Rix & Kay’s fixed cost employment law and professional HR solution for businesses and provides clients with access to a unique combination of dedicated employment lawyers and HR professionals who they can speak to, or meet, at any time.

The new services include a brand new website that provides access to a client-only online portal – a comprehensive library of HR documentation, guidance notes and checklists, designed to support day-to-day HR operations.

The GatekeeperHR offering is further enhanced with options to include dedicated professional HR support delivered on-site (or remotely) as part of an in-house team; and access to extensive concierge services such as mental health training platforms, pensions and payroll specialists and employment protection insurance.

Rix & Kay has been providing its employment law retainer service for more than ten years and already has more than 50 existing GatekeeperHR clients. All the firm’s existing clients will be able to access the enhanced services immediately in addition to the full range of existing services that include a comprehensive HR compliance audit, tailored training and company secretarial services.

Another Chamber member, Chris Thorne, Managing Director of CJ Thorne & Co Ltd who have been GatekeeperHR clients for several years commented, “GatekeeperHR has been an invaluable resource in terms of proactive advice on all things HR, including regular updates to our Company Handbook, as well as helping us to deal with any Employment Law related issues that may arise. Each member of the team has demonstrated a thorough understanding of our Company’s ethos, giving sage counsel and appropriate advice when required.”

Steve Griffen, Partner at regional accountancy practice Plummer Parsons, who already use the extended In-House HR Service commented, “As well as having access to the GatekeeperHR team who provide legal advice whenever we need it, we also make use of their In-House HR Service. Having a dedicated HR professional on-site not only makes a huge difference to the way our people work, it is also a cost effective way to ensure we maintain a professional and expert HR function within our business.”

Amy White, Employment Partner at Rix & Kay and Head of GatekeeperHR commented, “We know that businesses value having access to specialist HR advice, but are often concerned about the quality of service delivered by a telephone helpline and the lack of legal advice, should the need arise”.

GatekeeperHR combines access to employment law and professional HR expertise to provide businesses with a dedicated team who can provide technical input on legal issues and support day-to-day HR operations. Our aim is to help businesses to manage their workforce effectively and avoid the need for legal input in the first place”.

“We provide all our GatekeeperHR clients with direct dial phone numbers and email addresses of their team so they know who to contact. If legal input is required, then our team are on-hand to deal with issues quickly, whether it be a sudden crisis, a long-term problem or the simple need for a second opinion”.

GatekeeperHR is charged using a single fixed fee on a month-by-month basis, without the obligation to enter into any lengthy contracts that are difficult to exit. Costs for a typical GatekeeperHR service start from £150 + VAT per month.
