This Saturday 21st August 2021, the team at local digital marketing agency Youbiquity will be taking on Wilf Walk. Nick and Chantelle will be braving the 40km walking challenge in support of St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne.
The walk starts in Southease, taking the team through Alfriston and Eastbourne, before finishing in Normans Bay. The distance alone will be a challenge, not to mention the demanding terrain of the South Downs National Park.
The walk is based on routes that were set by Friends of Sussex Hospices. Their ‘Sussex Hospice Trail’ comprises of 26 linking routes and connects all the Sussex hospices.
Why St Wilfrid’s Hospice
We chose the hospice as our charity of the year for 2021 as multiple team members have personal experiences with their services. Knowing first-hand what the hospice can do for people at end of life and their families means that we understand the importance of giving something back.
St Wilfrid’s Hospice are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2021 so we thought it was the perfect time to get involved. Our target is to raise £1,600 in total, as it costs £400 for one full day of care across all hospice services.
Our Other Fundraising Plans
The team are already well underway with the fundraising, starting with a virtual 40-mile challenge back in May. We walked four miles a day over 10 days, coming to a total of 40 miles (see what we did there).
We had a great time completing this virtual challenge and it was a great warm up event for Wilf Walk. Nick and Chantelle are very excited and cannot wait to take on the walk this Saturday.
But we are not done there…
Looking to later in the year, Nick will be bravely taking on Firewalk on Saturday 27th November. This involves walking over hot coals which rise to scorching temperatures of 800 degrees. Not for the fainthearted!
