Dawson Hart have been running and cycling to raise money for the Uckfield Foodbank…
On 21st May they took part in the Hailsham 10k fun run and they made it over the finish line in good time despite the warm weather! The team have been training hard and supporting each other along the way and it paid off as they all did very well.
Only a few weeks later they had their first ever virtual cyclothon in Tescos, Uckfield. They were supported by Ashdown Radio who broadcast live from Tescos and Anytime Fitness kindly provided the bike.
The Uckfield Foodbank opened in 2013 and before that people had to travel to other foodbanks including East Grinstead and Hailsham at a time when they were already struggling financially. The cyclothon route travelled to some of the Foodbanks that those in need would have to had to travel to when they needed help. The team cycled 125km (beating their mission of 100km) and they collected food donations from the generous Tescos customers filling up 4 trolleys of food.
The two events have raised over £1,000 for the Uckfield Foodbank.
Laura Manton Director of Dawson Hart said “It has been great to be part of both of these events and we were so grateful for the support we have had from Ashdown Radio, Tescos in Uckfield and Anytime Fitness in bringing this event together and to Ian Noble from the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce for adjudicating on the day. It is amazing what you can do for the when you work together”
