The home secretary Yvette Cooper recently highlighted that one of the reasons that people are attracted to coming to Britain is the skill factor among UK workers across many industries is low compared to the rest of Europe, her comments serve as a reminder that many people arrive on our shores from all parts of the world with workplace qualifications that UK workers can’t meet.

The need to upskill and engage with training at all levels has never been higher than it is today, and that need is growing, industries are changing fast, and workplace transport is changing with them. New technologies, automation and an expanding supply chain mean the equipment is more diverse than ever. Operators need more than basic training. They need to stay ahead of the curve.
